India records 2,483 new infections

India recorded 2,483 new Covid-19 infections in the last 24 hours ending 8 am Tuesday — slightly lower than the previous day’s 2,541 cases.

As per news report of The Indian Express, the active cases also dipped from 16,522 to 15,636, while the positivity rate declined to 0.55 per cent. The country also reported 1,399 Covid-related deaths. Of these, 1,347 were reported from Assam to reflect the number of Covid-positive patients who died due to other reasons, the Union Ministry of Health said. The state reported zero Covid-related deaths in the last 24 hours, it added. Similarly, the 47 deaths reported in Kerala were based on reconciled figures. On Monday, Karnataka and Chhattisgarh issued fresh guidelines, making masks mandatory again in public places. Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu CM M K Stalin told the district collectors to ensure people wore masks in public places and vaccination coverage was stepped up.
