Car manufacturers can voluntarily get their vehicles tested as per the Automotive Industry Standard (AIS) 197 under this programme.

As per news report of NDTV,India today got its own crash safety assessment system with the launch of Bharat New Car Assessment Programme (NCAP) by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari. Bharat NCAP will be implemented from October 1, 2023.
