81,466 Fresh Covid Cases In India, Biggest 1-Day Jump In 6 Months

India yet again saw the biggest daily surge in Covid cases with 81,466 fresh infections reported since yesterday, taking the tally to 1.23 crore. The country also saw 469 new fatalities, the highest since December 6, the data updated at 8 am showed.

The single-day rise in cases is the highest recorded since October 2 when 81,484 new infections were recorded. Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, Punjab, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh continue to show a steep rise in daily new cases, accounting for 84.61 per cent of the new cases reported in a span of 24 hours, the Health Ministry said.
