Jaipur: A Jain monk was injured in an alleged attack by unidentified person in the wee hours today inside his ashram in Alwar district, police said.

The incident occurred at Divya Dham on Alwar-Bhiwari mega highway in Tijara where Saurabh Sagar was asleep when he was hit by a sharp object, they said.

He received mild injury in the attack and was rushed to a hospital, SHO Tijara police station Hemraj Singh said.

Police are yet to identify the attacker and ascertain the motive behind the incident, he said, adding the statement of the injured monk, was under treatment, could not be recorded so far.
