As per news report of NDTV, An indefinite curfew has also been imposed across the Western Province, including Colombo, to contain the growing protests. The Prime Minister has ordered the security forces to arrest those acting in a riotous manner, his office said. This comes after thousands of protesters took to the streets of Sri Lanka's capital Colombo, demanding Gotabaya Rajapaksa's immediate resignation as news emerged that he has fled to the Maldives. Security forces were seen using teargas shells and water cannons to disperse the crowd when they tried to enter the Prime Minister's office urging him to resign along with President Rajapaksa. Police also fired some shots in the air as the protesters broke through the barricades. Mr Wickremesinghe has already said that he will step down once an all-party government is ready to take over.
