PM Modi transfers Rs 1,000 crore to SHGs, will benefit 16 lakh women

Prime Minister Narendra Modi Tuesday transferred Rs 1,000 crore to Self Help Groups (SHGs) in Uttar Pradesh, which is expected to benefit around 16 lakh women.

As per news report of The Indian Express, it was part of his vision to empower women, especially at the grassroots level, by providing them with necessary skills, incentives and resources. The event, in Prayagraj, was a “one-of-its-kind” event, attended by over 2 lakh women. PM Modi also transferred Rs 20 crore to more than one lakh beneficiaries, to provide assistance for girls. He also laid the foundation stone of 202 Supplementary Nutrition Manufacturing Units.
