Supreme Court Clears Widening Char Dham Roads For "National Security"

The Supreme Court on Tuesday cleared the way for widening of roads as part of the centre's Char Dham project, agreeing with arguments that wider roads in the area were of strategic importance.

As per news report of NDTV, border security concerns need to be met, the top court said as it gave the centre a go-ahead. The Defence Ministry is a specialised body and can decide its operation requirements, the court said.The movements of troops and equipment (is) needed (and the) recent past has thrown up serious challenges to national security," the court noted.
