Supreme Court Puts On Hold 3 Farm Laws
The three new laws at the heart of massive farmer protests near Delhi will not come into force for now. In a huge blow to the government, the Supreme Court today pressed pause on the laws enacted in September. As per news report of NDTV, the top court also said a committee of agricultural experts would be formed to take over negotiations with farmers to end the crisis, saying "It is a victory for fair play".

The government had told the court that the laws "were not hurriedly made", that they were the result of two decades of deliberations. In eight rounds of talks with farmers' unions over the past month, the government had firmly ruled out withdrawing the laws but had insisted that amendments were on the table.
