UP Restaurant Charged Rs 2 Extra For Water Bottle, Ends Up Paying Rs 1 Lakh Fine

A restaurant in Hathras, Uttar Pradesh, has been fined Rs 1 lakh by the Aligarh District Consumer Commission for charging Rs 20 for a water bottle with an MRP of Rs 18.

As per news report of NDTV,Charging just Rs 2 extra for a bottle of water has proved costly for a restaurant in Hathras, Uttar Pradesh. The District Consumer Commission in Aligarh has imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh on BBCN Royal Restaurant and Party Hall for selling a water bottle above its maximum retail price (MRP). The commission has also ordered the restaurant to pay Rs 1,000 as compensation to the complainant and Rs 5,000 towards his legal expenses.
