US promises ‘additional support’ for Indian Covid-19 crisis amid calls to release unused vaccine doses to hardest-hit nations
After repeatedly ducking queries about whether the US will lift a ban on the export of raw vaccine materials to India, the White House has vowed more support, but was vague on details, as India reported about 350,000 daily cases.

As per news report of rt.com, facing a vaccine shortage amid surging infections and a lack of timely oxygen supplies by some hospitals, India has urged the US to lift a ban on the export of key vaccine materials. So far, however, New Delhi has seen its requests being stonewalled, with the Biden administration signaling earlier this week that it will focus on Americans getting the jab.As India’s coronavirus situation continues to deteriorate, the White House pledged to “quickly” provide “additional support” to New Delhi on Saturday, but did not offer much detail. In a statement to Reuters, a White House spokeswoman said that the US has been involved in high-level talks with India, promising to release more information soon.
